From The Executive Director:
Recently, as I was running the camp store, I learned of seven new commitments made to Christ during the prior evening’s worship service! A counselor shared with enthusiasm the story of one commitment in particular--a girl who had attended her Bible study for the past year and a half. Praise God! I am always amazed at the work God accomplishes in and around us when we follow Jesus’ example of going away to a quiet, wilderness place to deliberately spend time with the Father. I am excited and honored to serve in a ministry which for nearly 80 years has provided just that: a place set apart for people of all ages to come away to, find a quiet place in the wilderness and meet with God.
“But He Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.” Luke 5:16
Below I’d like to share some important recent developments that could both protect and dramatically enhance the ministry of this quiet, “set apart” place. First, please allow me to briefly highlight some relevant camp history. Then the remainder of these pages will highlight the three areas of donation opportunities: Property Acqusitions; Capital Projects; and Camper Scholarships.
I believe acquiring these three properties will protect and dramatically enhance the future ministry of Quaker Hill. If you care about the future of Quaker Hill, please read every word. I ask you to please join me, the staff and the Quaker Hill Board of Directors in praying that God will move mightily during this exciting and important hour in Quaker Hill's history. |

Recent Developments
Here is a a brief highlight of some relevant camp history: 1931 Quaker Hillís original 7 acre property is purchased during the Great Depression. Seller gifts 50 foot waterfront for lake access. 1975 Thanks to generous donors, the adjacent back 40 acres is acquired. 2004 Nearby “Tamarack Resort” changes the local economy. Construction and development in and around McCall booms. Property values skyrocket. 2006 Quaker Hill's Long Range Planning Committee identifies five adjacent properties deemed “critical for the camp to acquire in the future.” 2008 Nationwide economic downturn coincides with the bankruptcy of Tamarack Resort. McCall (non-lakefront) prices drop significantly. 2010 Today, residential development almost entirely surrounds Quaker Hillís 53 acre grounds. And the top three “critical properties to acquire” are all for sale.
